MARKETING MADE EASY

  Nick Roberts

If you're not sure where to start with your marketing, there are three key marketing questions which, if you know the answers to, will ensure you have loads of prospective customers beating a path to your door.

  1. Who is your ideal customer? If you know who your ideal customer is your marketing efforts will be focused on those who are most likely to buy from you time and time again, those with an open wallet who are willing to pay the right price. What are their demographics? Where do they live or hang out? What do they read? What problems do they have?
  2. Why should they use you? You have loads of competition right? So why should the ideal customer choose to do business with you rather than your competitors? This question forces you to think about your point of difference - how can you really differentiate yourself in a meaningful way from the run of the mill business down the road which will not only keep them coming back but bring their friends?
  3. How do they find out about you? This question brings us nicely to what we need to be doing to attract customers. After all, it's no good being the best plumber or architect in town if no one knows about you is there? And here you need a simple marketing plan with defined objectives involving a whole heap of both background and proactive marketing strategies.

I have some very useful books, worksheets and lots of examples on these three key marketing questions so let me know if you'd like to see them. Whether you're a new business or established, marketing is a key business skill you need to get to grips with sooner rather than later!
